One cannot deny the fact that we live in a smart world with smart homes. A lot of homes still do not have built-in smart features but the trend is growing and we should be prepared to see a lot of smart appliances as part of new homes and existing homes. Trends like touchless doorbells and robot vacuums have become a big part of our lives and with that, smart tech has only gotten smarter. Let's check out the latest home tech trends to watch out for in 2023.

1. Smart appliances using connected technology

We are all aware of digital refrigerators and they aren't new to us but the trend is still strong in 2023 and it comes with many features and additional connectivity options. Homeowners are looking for added convenience when it comes to kitchen appliances and there are several appliances that can improve your life through connected features like pre-programmed settings that can adjust the cooking times while also sending cooking instructions to the oven using a connected app. This will ensure that your appliances are working in sync and the tasks become more seamless. You will also find smart cooling solutions that can be controlled by your voice. This way, you can have the heating, cooling or ventilation of your home just the way you want simply by using connected technology. You will find many brands introducing appliances that simply get smarter with time and show better performance using the latest features and technology. However, do remember to enquire about home appliance and HVAC repair warranties before you bring the appliance home.

2. Smart water networks

Smart home trends and eco-friendly practices are going hand-in-hand and it is a very encouraging trend. We will get to see a lot of smart tech for water products throughout the year. It could be tech that optimises water usage or reduces wastage but it will become a big part of our lives. Smart water networks will include wireless soil sensors or sprinkler controllers that help with water usage as well as lawn care. You will find several features that allow you to control water consumption, reduce environmental impact and also encourage better habits. The sprinkler controllers have a feature where they use weather forecasts as well as historical information to build a watering schedule, thus ensuring that the plants receive the right amount of water with minimal waste.

3. Smart showers

One of the biggest trends for the year will be customized digital showers from some of your favorite brands. This is the year of spending money on your bathroom and even Pinterest highlights this trend as a major trend of the year.  There are several options in the market that come with multiple benefits but most like to have a shower that comes with a smartphone app that gives access to user presents and warm-up modes. It will help ensure that the user spends time doing more of what they want instead of waiting around in the bathroom. However, we do not have a lot of connectivity options for smart showers yet. But there will be customization which includes user profiles with different presets that help control different elements like the duration, flow, temperature, etc. All smart showers will come with Bluetooth and built-in Wi-Fi so that you can connect them to your favorite music apps.

4. Pet tech

Smart technology has also revolutionized the pet space and it is making life easier for our furry friends too. Right from the treat-dispensing play cubes to the automated feeders, there is so much to ensure that your pet never misses their meal time. You will find several advanced devices that have made it easier to look after a pet. If you have an active lifestyle, you can also consider the pet door solutions or litter boxes that can be controlled using your voice so that you always tend to the pet's needs even if you are away from home. Being a pet parent in the tech-advanced world is no longer an exclusive role!

5. Home Security

Since smart homes are becoming more connected, there are a lot of concerns about privacy and security that have come to light. This is why fingerprint scanners, biometric security solutions, as well as facial recognition are on the rise. They have become a big part of smart homes and provide better safety as compared to key codes. We will see door locks that come with biometric scanners and you can program them to recognize certain individuals or provide access to only specific areas in the home.

Whether you are looking to buy a new device for your home or simply want to upgrade the one you own, get an understanding of the features and consider all your options before making a decision. These smart devices have sleek features and can also help run the routines of your home with ease. That said, they are worth the money and could make your life so much easier.
