Instagram has been getting a lot of requests on a lot of tweaks and features and now, they are finally here! The social media platform has just announced on Tuesday that major changes will be introduced to Instagram users including the capability to turn off or like comments, and remove followers.

Time has reported that Instagram has come up with these application updates in line with its support and a way to spread positivity within the platform. Time also reported that these updates are expected to help the app make its users feel welcomed.

Instagram's new features are expected to be released in the following weeks. The new features should let users control comments by disabling it, and also like comments by tapping a heart icon on the comments section. Another major tweak will let IG users remove followers from their private account, which cannot be done before unless a person blocks a follower from her list.

The announcement, which was made through a blog post by CEO Kevin Systrom, also states that Instagram will soon let a user report posts, according to The Verge. This is one great feature since Systrom also mentioned that users who will be reported for a tendency to do self-harm will automatically be connected to organizations for help.

Meanwhile, Wired reminds Instagram users that these upcoming features will only be available to people whose accounts are private. In order to make yours a private account, users may simply go to their own profile, click the gear icon on the upper-right part of the page, and toggle 'Private Account.'

Users who have private accounts may simply go to their Followers list, look for the accounts you want to remove from the list, tap the three dots near the users' name, and click "Remove." Removing a follower does not block the user and may still ask permission to follow an account again.
