Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc Scheduled for January 2017

Blue Exorcist is finally getting a new season, and it looks like things will definitely get exciting. The second season of this supernatural anime is scheduled for January next year, and is said to cover the Kyoto Impure King Arc.

Naturally this means a new characters and new cast to voice them. The Fandom Post reports that new cast have already been chosen. Takashi Inagaki will voice Tatsuma Suguro, Katsuyuki Konishi as Jūzō Shima, Kishō Taniyama as Kinzō Shima, M.A.O as Mamushi Hōjō, and finally, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Saburōta Tōdō.

According to Anime News Network, there is a new director for the series as Koichi Hatsumi is replacing Tensai Okamura. Keigo Sasaki will be returning to design characters, and will also be the chief animation director. The first season of the anime was released back in 2011.

Blue Exorcist is a supernatural manga by Kato Kazue. It's about a boy named Rin Okumura, who is raised along with his brother by Father Fujimoto. One day, he discovers that he is not a regular boy ... but actually the son of Satan?!

Rin decides to join True Cross Academy to become an exorcist and fight demons. But will he be able to tame the dark powers inside him?

The Kyoto Impure King Arc starts in the 5th volume of the original manga. According to The BitBag, the second season will focus on the eye of Fuji-o, the Impure King. The Impure King had killed thousands of people in the late Edo period.

The Knights of the True Cross were able to defeat the Impure King and sealed its left eye in True Cross Academy, but now has been stolen. Rin and his friends' mission is to recover the second eye in Kyoto before it is stolen because if the two eyes are used together ... the Impure King will be brought back to life.
