Seems like Redmond giants Microsoft have had enough misery of users misusing their free-cloud storage of 15GB. Apparently, Microsoft have found out that there were more misuses than actual usage for 15GB. This has made the Windows parent to kill the additional 10GB of free storage and bring it down to just 5GB.

In an earlier mail that you had to receive if you are one of the OneDrive users like me, Microsoft had mailed all of its user-base acknowledging the fact that users will still be able to retain their free base storage of 15GB provided they put it to good use. A user of their services for almost seven years like me however have been unaffected even without receiving the mail and my base storage has been retained to 15GB along with my 5TB of cloud storage.

The free storage policy of Microsoft's cloud storage OneDrive has now ultimately been modified. Starting this July 27, OneDrive users will only be permitted to make use of free 5GB storage down from 15GB earlier. The company is also shutting down by bringing an end to the additional bonus storage for camera roll. Microsoft fans are left fuming with this decision but I firmly believe that Microsoft have taken a staunch decision to make sure people don't mess with the Redmond giants with matters relating misuse of their free service.

Back in 2015, the tech giant had announced that it was coming to a decision to reduce the quantity of the cloud storage but given the outrage back then and generated feedback from surveys, Microsoft revoked the plan. The company said all users agreed to new terms would still be able to manage with 15GB of cloud storage and the 15GB of bonus allotment. However the 15GB would be made available only by logging into a special page and clicking at the bottom to confirm you wanted the free storage.
