Sony Santa Monica Studios, God of War creators, confirmed that they are working on "God of War 4" and the recent news that they company has hired 50 developers indicate that the upcoming game will be huge.

Sony Studios previously mentioned that they plan to release the game in 2017 or 2018, so this means that the game will not be launched anytime soon.

The re-mastered version of God of War 3 was released on PS4 in 2015. In a PlayStation blog, Cory Barlog, Head Writer of GOW series, announced that for now they are focusing on God of War 3 Re-mastered and will only channel their attention on God of War 4 once the former is complete. Now that GOW 3 Remastered is done and dusted, it means that the studios are already developing GOW 4.

Recent reports indicate that Santa Monica is hiring as many as 50 developers which means that the upcoming installment of the God of War series will be massive.

However, a news report suggested that the upcoming God of War 4 will not feature Kratos as the protagonist, but another mythical creature will be leading the game, with the potential to create another spin-off or game prequel. There is also news that more gods will join God of War such as Thor, Loki, Odin and other Norse gods.

No release date has been revealed so far but the game is expected to release sometime in 2017 or latest by 2016.

God of War 4 will be leaving the Greek Mythology and entering a new realm of Norse gods, as rumors indicate, it waits to be seen if the latter will fit well with the gamers as the former did.
