'The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo' News & Update: Film Gets A Sequel To Air In 2018, What We Know So Far!

Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are not returning for the sequel of "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo." There will be new cast members to join in the sequel titled "The Girl in the Spider's Web."

According to a report, the sequel for "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" had been in the works since the release of the film then. Recently, at the London Book Fair, the announcement was made that the sequel will soon air.

Director David Fincher's initial plan was to film back-to-back both "The Girl Who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest." However, there were some challenges with the script and some things behind-the-scenes for the film. "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" starred Rooney Mara as the main character Lisbeth Salander.

The sequel for "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" has been reported to cast a different star since Mara will not be joining in the film. David Craig who also starred in the film will not return for the sequel. Craig portrayed the role of journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the original film.

"The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" sequel titled "The Girl in the Spider's Web" will be directed by Fede Alvarez. In fact, he shared that he is excited to work on the film. Alvarez noted that the character of Salander is one of those that directors would want to bring to life.

As of this time, the script is good for "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" sequel. The one thing that production is working on right now is finding the cast to play Lisbeth. So far, there is no specific name yet on who would play the main character's role in the film.

Meanwhile, "The Girl in the Spider's Web" is based on a novel by David Lagercrantz of the same name. The film is set to on Oct. 5, 2018.
