Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open world western action adventure video game developed by Rockstar Studios. It is published by Rockstar Games for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Rockstar Games has officially announced that it will be released in the fall of 2017.

It will be the sequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption and will be the third entry in the Res Dead series. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be set in an open world environment featuring single player and online multiplayer components. Players have an option for their preferred platform. The online multiplayer feature speculated to include a Wild West death match among 16 persons.

The storyline revolves around the character of John Marston who is the main character of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare. He is a former gunslinger and fugitive member who had a traumatic childhood. Despite being an outlaw gang, Marston abandoned his criminal deeds and settled for a quiet life with his wife Abigail and son Jack. These characters have an expanded journey in a wider plan to be traversed.

The action video game was announced on October 18 by Rockstar and the first trailer being released on October 20. The developer used social media platforms in releasing two teaser images in the color and theme of Red Dead Redemption. The world western teaser raised nearly six percent of the stock price of its distributor Take-Two Interactive. Ben Schachter of Macquarie Securities envisions selling 12 million copies during the Take-Two Interactive's second fiscal quarter in 2017.

The western action-adventure video game will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Most of the avid gamers reacted and started requesting Rockstar Games for the Red Dead Redemption 2 to be made available on Microsoft Windows as well, however, an exceptionality agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that it will be timed exclusives for the Playstation 4.
