"How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3 cancellation news notes on the possibility that the Viola Davis-led drama will end following the revelation as to who was under the sheet - Wes. In an interview with Variety, series creator Peter Nowalk explained that the mystery surrounding Wes' death will be explored in the second half of the season.

Nowalk explained that viewers will be offered answers to questions such as "Who killed Wes" and "Did Wes kill himself" when "HTGAWM Season 3 returns on Jan. 19. Those who cannot accept Wes' death will be given enough time to say goodbye, as his character will still appear throughout the season.

The showrunner also hinted on the possibility that "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3 will be the last. Nowalk shared that he has no idea whether ABC will renew the show for another season.

There have been speculations that "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3 will be the last season, as the show continuously experiences a drop in ratings. As TV Series Finale reports, the show was one of the highest rated dramas in the network until its second season.

On average, "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3 rated 1.24 in the 18-49 demographics. This is lower by 33.93 percent than last season's ratings.
