Barbie Movie release date to be pushed back a year? The live-action adaptation of Barbie under Sony Pictures has been previously set to open on May 12, 2017, but due to changes, the said movie has shifted to set premiere on June 29, 2018.

Amy Schumer, a 35-year old American writer, stand-up comedienne, actress, and producer is on board to take the lead role to the upcoming film as Barbie, sources tell Variety. According to Moviehole, Hilary Winston wrote the film's script although Schumer and her sister Kim Caramel are going to give the script a new draft.

The actress might as well is also blunt when it comes to body shaming issues. Schumer is the ultimate example of feminism, she is a woman who has her own stand when it comes to body shaming,  a woman full of confidence and indeed not shy about giving the spotlight to her imperfections. That's why it is often mixed up with the controversial history of Barbie that makes her the perfect package for the movie. Other leads have been screened up but the team thinks that perhaps Amy Schumer is perfectly what the brand needs.

Barbie has become an icon for decades and since it set foot on the market. Barbie gained recognition for exhibiting female dolls in high power careers. In the film, Barbie (Amy Schumer) will be playing an imperfect barbie who does not fit in the Barbieland. She'll plunge into the real world wherein she'll discern that perfection comes on the inside and that believing in yourself is the ultimate key to happiness.

Full details of the movie have not yet been disclosed to media since the team is still working on it. In addition to the outline, no director has been attached yet to handle the said film.
