Actress Emmy Rossum who plays the character of Fiona Gallagher on Showtime's "Shameless" has reportedly demanded to be paid more than her co-star William H. Macy. Macy portrays the role of the Gallagher drug and alcohol addict patriarch Frank. The salary negotiation between Warner Bros. TV and the actress is reportedly the reason behind the delay of the renewal of "Shameless" Season 8.

In a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Emmy-nominated actor Macy has been paid more than the rest of "Shameless" cast since the show started. Recently, the "Fargo" actor is rumored to have scored a salary raise for the possible Season 8 of the popular Showtime series. Actress Rossum who had appeared in every episode of "Shameless" is now reportedly aiming to do the same and asked for an increased payment for her role more than what Macy would get.

The 30-year-old actress is not only fighting for wage equality but she is apparently claiming for a higher pay to make up for the previous episodes she did for the TV series. As pointed out by a report from The Mary Sue, Rossum delivered equal work as Macy's but she received much less salary compared to the actor. Is Rossum's pay standoff the real reason why "Shameless" Season 8 has not received a green light yet?

Showtime and Warner Bros. TV have declined to give comments about the issue but a report from Fox News claimed that the actress was already offered an equal pay as Macy's. However, Rossum's team has not accepted the deal yet according to sources. The company and the network are still reportedly negotiating with the actress as the team behind the hit dramedy has not started a plan to proceed with "Shameless" Season 8 without Fiona.

What can you say about Rossum's claim to be given higher pay than Macy on "Shameless" Season 8? Do you believe that the actress deserves to be paid more? Let us know your thoughts by dropping a comment below.
