More details have been announced for the upcoming sequel to the breakthrough animated video game “Gravity Rush”. Announcing its release a couple of years ago, fans are excited what more is in store for them. Aside from further details on the video game, it has been revealed that an animated movie prequel will also be released.

The sequel to "Gravity Rush" has been announced way back in September 2015 at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2015. The video game sequel has been officially titled “Gravity Rush 2”, otherwise known as “Gravity Daze 2” in Japan. Exclusively made for PlayStation, the first “Gravity Rush” video game was released for PlayStation Vita in February and June 2012 while it was then remastered for the PlayStation 4, which was made available in December 2015 for Japan and made a worldwide release by February 2016.

Sony and Japan Studio have released a video featuring the same main characters, Kat and Raven, reprising their roles in “Gravity Rush 2” for a whole new adventure. The trailer video showed a whole new environment with an updated world map and new side quests that revels in the usual fun gameplay, which players will love to explore. New characters, who would probably play as villains have been introduced as well.

In the video, a preview of the upcoming “Gravity Rush The Animation – Overture” was teased. It will be released by Studio Khara as a special animation prequel film that serves as a bridge to fill in the narrative gap between the first game and the sequel, hence giving more fans a peek of the world of “Gravity Rush”. The said animated prequel is planned to release sometime next year before “Gravity Rush 2” is officially launched.

Gravity Rush 2” will pick up where “Gravity Rush” left off and it will take place in a town of an ethnic atmosphere, which is said to be familiar with the likes of South America or Southeast Asia. The video game sequel will only be released for PlayStation 4 and Sony has yet to announce if it will also be available on PlayStation Vita. “Gravity Rush 2” will be officially released in Australia and Europe on Jan. 18, in Japan on Jan. 19, and in North America and the United Kingdom on Jan. 20 next year.
