Sony has finally revealed one of the sequels fans and avid gamers all around the world have been waiting for in years. Just a few days ago, the official first trailer for “Last of Us: Part 2” has been unveiled at the PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016. It featured a snippet of a grown-up Ellie singing and playing the guitar while Joel walks in on her with a bloody body on the floor just a few inches from her feet.

The trailer reveals that the “Last of Us” sequel will venture on a plot of hate and probably manslaughter instead of survival. It has not yet determined whether Ellie and Joel are out to kill more cannibal mutants or out on the search to seek vengeance on the people who almost killed her and Joel as revealed in the ending of the first game. With the story going to a different direction, it has also been reported that the sequel will not be directed by Bruce Straley.

After the worldwide success of “Last of Us”, fans are both worried and curious how the upcoming sequel will turn out in the hands of just one director. It has been reported that Straley has decided not to direct the development of “Last of Us: Part 2” because he wanted to take a year-long time off. Sony has confirmed this and reassured fans that he will return soon to the studio to work on other future releases.

With Straley off the directorship, he has left his partner Neil Druckmann to solely oversee the development of “Last of Us: Part 2”. After revealing that the story will take place when Ellie is already 19 years old, fans have voiced out worrying that a lot of the previous game’s story will be missed out since the story jumps to five years later. Druckmann has assured fans that the beloved characters and story will not be neglected and he is asking fans to trust him and the team to deliver a worthy sequel.

“Last of Us: Part 2” is a horror action video game, which will most likely be released exclusively for PlayStation just like “Last of Us”. News on when the upcoming Naughty Dog video game might be released has yet to be announced.
