Samsung is reportedly brewing up more forcible measures to ensure that every “Galaxy Note 7” smartphone will remain nonfunctional. After going through an unfortunate explosive glitch with its latest Galaxy model, the company had to take off everything in the market. Now, even with the concern bein handled, some are still out in the open being used.

It is said that Samsung is also planning to permanently disable all the “Galaxy Note 7” units in the United States soon. According to sources, US Cellular, which is a U.S. based carrier sent out an alert blast to its subscribers stating that Samsung will be releasing an update that will modify the software of the said smartphone to prevent it from charging. The said update will be rolled out on Dec. 15. Meanwhile, Samsung and US Cellular has yet to comment on the said matter.

The measure was to make sure that the recalled Samsung units will not be used again to prevent more unforeseen incidents. It is also a restriction imposed to force stubborn users to surrender their recalled units to the company. Samsung has already carried out preventive measures in Canada by disabling the smartphone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features. But because that was not enough, the restrictions extended to deactivating the cell and date service, which eventually rendered the “Galaxy Note 7” useless.

This is reportedly the last and final attempt of Samsung to retrieve the remaining recalled “Galaxy Note 7” units in the U.S. It has been found out that out only 85 percent of the totals units sold were recovered in the said country. There are still about 285,000 units lying around in the U.S., which must be collected immediately.

In other news, Samsung is clearly trying to make amends with its latest phone that was anticipated to be the top smartphone but turned into a faulty one. It has been reported that Samsung is working on a new smartphone model that will have a bendable OLED screen as well as two screens. They are still experimenting on this as the two-screened model is said to be foldable in half wherein users will have a screen both on the front and back. The unnamed model is planned to be introduced in 2017.
