A lot of fans are excited for the release of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding which will be his first game outside of the Konami net, and Kojima Productions is reportedly getting into a partnership with Guerilla Games to develop the project.

IGN was able to have a sit down with Kojima, as well as PS4 tech lead Mark Cerny and Guerilla's Herman Hulst, and they talk about their collaboration when it comes to Death Stranding. Though not much is revealed about the story, the three go into detail as to what fans can expect from the collaboration of both studios.

Guerilla Games is probably best known for their Killzone franchise, but now they have a new game called Horizon Zero Dawn coming out; it will be exclusive to the PS4, and any eager player can expect the game to arrive by February of next year. Kojima Productions will be making use of their engine for Death Stranding, and the choice to have Guerilla was made after numerous visits from other developers.

One of Kojima's main concerns with working with Guerilla is that there may be a possibility that Death Stranding could look identical to that of Horizon Zero Dawn, but the studios are confident that both can learn from each other, and they could develop an entirely new product for the future.

Kojima noted that he was very impressed with the amount of polygons that Guerilla's engine could render on a character, and the company could help with all the meticulous detail that he wants to put into Death Stranding game.

Though no official plot has been revealed for the game, Death Stranding will star familiar faces such as "The Walking Dead's" Norman Reedus and "Doctor Strange's" Mads Mikkelsen. Reedus is said to serve as the model for the lead protagonist while Mikkelsen will be playing the main antagonist of the game.

No official release date has been announced for the game, but Kojima says that the production for Death Stranding would go full swing sometime next year. With that in mind, it's possible that the game could come out sometime in 2018.
