‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Latest News: Ian Somerhalder Prefers To See Nina Dobrev’s Character Return Without Memory Of Salvatore Brothers?

"The Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder has an interesting revelation on how he thinks the epic TV show should end. However, the 37-year-old actor has no clue about the plans of "TVD" executive producers on the series finale. Moreover, when asked whether Nina Dobrev will return, Somerhalder revealed that he has zero idea about the matter.

A report from Variety detailed Somerhalder's take on the season finale of "The Vampire Diaries." He mentioned that he had been discussing with Paul Wesley how he wants to see the Salvatore brothers and the rest of the vampires and witches to just leave Mystic Falls as the series wraps up. The actor also said that Dobrev's character Elena should just be given the chance to wake up and live without memories of the brothers.

Additionally, Wesley and Somerhalder seem to have the same view on how they want to see the Salvatore brothers end up on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. As per Somerhalder, they both want to see their characters head to the Caribbean, remove their rings and let the sun burn them. Apparently, the actor believes that his character Damon has killed and hurt a lot of people so it is just fair for him and his brother to just disappear and let humanity win.

Meanwhile, Somerhalder made it clear that "TVD" EP Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson are tight-lipped about the development of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale. He has no idea whether or not Dobrev will reprise her role as Elena before the season ends. Somerhalder also pointed out that while he wants to make the audience happy with Elena's comeback, he doesn't think that the Salvatore brothers must have a happy ending.
