Some Americans may still be lamenting over the fact that Donald Trump will be their president in a few weeks. But it seems that the Democrats will have reason to celebrate. Current Vice President Joe Biden has announced that he will run for president in 2020 - sort of.

Biden revealed to journalists after a ceremony in the Senate that he has plans for 2020 to replace the billionaire tycoon as president. But then, Biden appeared to retract his remarks when journalists asked if he was joking. He then said that he is not committed to run as he was not committed to anything.

It is not typical for people hoping to be the next president of the superpower country to announce their plans after the midterm elections. This informal declaration a month after Trump's upset victory against Hilary Clinton is unordothox.

But people know Biden has always been known for being candid and undisciplined with his words. With this, it would be very hard for everyone to tell if he is serious or joking about his decision to run. Considered as one of the trusted member left in the Democratic Party, Biden was considered to running as president this year after having a high trust rating among Americans. However, he declined after the death of his son from cancer.

Biden also left his presidential chance to eventual Democrat presidential candidate Clinton. Clinton also claimed the establishment vote that he would need in the primaries. Despite his popularity now, Biden lost his previous presidential bids back in 1988 and 2008.

His health could also be working against him. He is 74. It is hard to predict how well he will be in four years. If Biden would really run for president in 2020, he will already face a competition since one person already declared his intentions to run. Hiphop star Kanye West.
