'Overwatch' Bags Game Of The Year Award At The Game Awards 2016; Blizzard Takes Home Multiple Awards!

Blizzard has harvested a lot of fruit for their game development efforts this year, the most notable of which is the fact that "Overwatch" was able to win three titles at The Game Awards 2016. The first-person shooting game won titles such as "Best Multiplayer," "Best eSports Game," and the best of all "Game Of The Year."

Millions of gaming fans around the world chanted for their favorite games to win an award at The Game Awards 2016. The games that won titles to bring home are indeed not worthy and amazingly developed titles. Blizzard's first-person team shooting game "Overwatch" was able to bag multiple awards for the team, while the game developing company themselves got recognition of their own as reported by Engadget.

"Overwatch," one of the most iconic new games of the year got the spotlight it truly deserves after selling millions of copies after a few weeks since its release and instantly gathering a massive playerbase. According to Forbes, Blizzard's popular team-based shooting game took home multiple awards at The Game Awards 2016, including the mother of all awards, the "Game Of The Year" Award.

Apparently, "Overwatch" was against other nominees for the said award and they weren't games to be taken lightly. "DOOM" definitely had great visuals and an amazing soundtrack, and it did bag the "Best Action Game" and "Best Music/Sound Design" Awards. However, it wasn't enough to take take the win from Blizzard's "Overwatch."

Another noteworthy candidate for GOTY was "Inside," although it did not win the GOTY award, it did manage to receive recognition for as the game with the "Best Art Direction" and "Best Independent Game."

It is hard to argue against "Overwatch" bagging the "Game Of The Year" award at The Game Awards 2016. Moreover, the team-based shooting game also bagged other awards such as "Best eSports Game," and "Best Multiplayer." In addition, Blizzard themselves was crowned "Best Game Direction" at The Game Awards 2016.
