The disappointing delivery of the much-overhyped video game "No Man's Sky" has forced organizers of the 2016 Games Awards to feature more substance and less sizzle, said Geoff Keighley who is tapped to host the December event. This is another blow to Hello Games following the departure of game designer Gareth Bourn who was pirated by "Squadron 42" campaign developer Foundry42 last month.

"No Man's Sky" was promoted with promising trailers and game demos but it turned out to be near-complete fabrications - a complete letdown for the gaming community who is widely anticipating for the game's super-delayed release. The lessons learned from Hello Games' failure to live up to the expectations of gaming fans has made the 2016 Games Awards opt for less CGI and more on the delivery of gameplay.

The Games Awards host and creator Geoff Keighly was interviewed by the website Polygon recently. Keighly blamed himself for the hype surrounding "No Man's Sky." He discussed the changes to be made for the show to go forward.

Keighly told Polygon, "I have thought about the story of No Man's Sky a lot. Did we create this black hole of hype that the developers couldn't pull themselves out of? Some of that was authored by me. There is a good moral of that story and it's part of what I'm trying to address this year; to have developers be more transparent about the state of their game."

The crisis facing "No Man's Sky" is a revelation of developers' struggle on how come up with new ideas to present their games, Keighly added. He mentioned that the constant flow of new downloadable has kept games turned services alive long past the typical shelf-life of a title.

According to the website Attack of the Fanboy, the 2016 Games Awards will be held on December 1 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California and is promised as a "celebration of the best games of 2016. Fans can watch the show via live streaming on various digital channels such as Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, Xbox Live, YouTube and PlayStation Network.
