As one of the most successful CBS reboot series, there were rumors that Alex O'Loughlin, who portrays the lead role of Steve McGarrett, is planning to leave the show. In one interview, the Australian actor confirmed that he already made up his mind to leave the show after the eighth installment.

"Hawaii Five-0" To End After Season 8?

O'Loughlin disclosed that he does not want to go beyond eight seasons since he finds it hard to keep things "fresh and alive." He even expressed his concerns that he will be struggling to keep the "magic" until the end of "Hawaii Five-0" season 8.

O'Loughlin also cited that physically, his body can only take a beating for eight seasons. In fact, he is already feeling the impact of the injuries he sustained from filming the show. He admitted that he has serious back issues and he needs go to California regularly to undergo stem cell treatment, according to Collider.

Since Steve McGarrett was the reason "Hawaii Five-0" was created and the series has been surrounding him and his family's secrets, the lead actor's departure could also mean the end for the reboot. While talking about his exit, the Aussie actor also alluded to the fact that the show has not been renewed by CBS yet and it might not get another season.

However, the 150th episode that aired on Friday, Nov. 4 was such a big hit that the network could decide to give it another season and prep for Steve's exit or pull out all the big guns for the series finale.

Meanwhile, among the most anticipated events in the previous episode was the return of Catherine Rollins (Michelle Borth). Steve confronted Catherine if she knew that he had been planning to propose before she left.

As recapped by TVLine, Catherine revealed that she knew about the proposal and that she would have said yes. However, O'Loughlin explained that Steve just needs closure that's why he had to ask Catherine the "question."

"Hawaii Five-0" season 7 airs every Friday on CBS at a 9/8c time slot.
