Fans of the new HBO series Westworld have been speculating that the antagonist Man In Black is actually newcomer William in the white hat. William has only been seen as a new visitor to the amusement park in the released episodes and watchers have already created this theory based on the details so far, that MiB and William are the same person.

William's scenes have only been set in the past while MiB's have been in the present day. It's one of the main supporting details the fans have been pointing out as there has been an appearance of an old Westworld logo, besides the current one, that leads to the implication that William's timeline is set in the past.

Another thing they have been looking into that proves the contrasting timeline is that Streetwater in William's setting is not the same as the present setting. The surroundings compared to Teddy's are different as William's, when they are both shown walking around town. William had US army troops recruiting in his background while Teddy had sheriff recruiting in his.

William has not interacted with current brothel owner Maeve and it appeared that he wasn't the owner of it back then. Clementine was the brothel owner in William's time. There were also ladies standing with Clementine in front of the brothel in the scenes of William that haven't appeared in any other scenes in the TV show.

In addition, it has been seen that Dolores did not recognize the MiB, which disappointed him. In William's timeline, there is a special interaction between him and Dolores. This is considered as a strong evidence to the theory that William indeed is the MiB.

Fans have been looking into the possibility that William will eventually turn out to be the villain as his timeline progresses.
