Tokyo Ghoul's rumor mill is alive and spinning as new rumors say that the popular series will get its third season even earlier than expected. Parent Herald reports that it may arrive as early as this winter.

In an earlier report, we mentioned that fans were getting frustrated with the delay for season 3. However, Yibada states that due to the huge success of the manga series, the anime creators are now feeling even more pressure to release the third season.

Also, due to the lukewarm reception of the second season, Tokyo Ghoul √A, rumors also say that Tokyo Ghoul's third season will be more faithful to the original manga's plot, according to Movie News Guide.

Tokyo Ghoul √A deviated from the manga plot. In it, Ken Kaneki becomes part of Aogiri Tree, a terrorist ghoul association that aims to destroy the CCG, a government agency created to deal with ghouls. This was after Ken was captured and tortured by a sadistic ghoul into giving into his darker urges. Ken and his friends in Anteiku eventually find out the consequences of his choices.

If the third season is to follow the plot of the manga, it will feature an amnesiac Ken Kaneki, who started calling himself Haise Saseki, and is the leader of the Quinx Squad. The Quinx Squad is a special team of investigators who underwent surgery to have special abilities to fight ghouls, without turning into one. Saseki and the Quinx squad must hunt down the dangerous ghoul named "Torso". This is the plot of the manga sequel Tokyo Ghoul:re.

It was also mentioned that Madhouse will have a hand at the development of the third season. This may mean more gore and dark scenes, as Madhouse is particularly known for their gory plots, such as in Overlord, Hellsing Ultimate, and Death Parade.
