The CW has unloaded one, final trailer for the upcoming fifth season of the superhero show "Arrow," and from the looks of it, one can surmise that perhaps Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is back to his murderous ways.

As implied by the trailer, Season 5 will be dealing with the repercussions of last season's conclusion. Now that Oliver has become mayor of Star City, he will need to learn how to balance his duties as a politician, and a vigilante hero by night. However, it would seem like he's got more to his plate than meets the eye. Things will become more complicated with the arrival of Prometheus, a mysterious individual whose goal is to take down the Green Arrow.

In addition, the network has released the official synopsis for the pilot of the season:

NEW BEGINNINGS - After Laurel's (Katie Cassidy) death and the departures of both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) from Team Arrow, Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes to the streets solo to protect Star City's citizens as the Green Arrow. With Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) guiding him from the bunker, Oliver is forced to deal with a city that has become overrun with both criminals and a slew of new (and painfully inexperienced) vigilantes. Watching Oliver try to balance his jobs as both the mayor and also the protector of Star City, Felicity suggests he form a new team, but Oliver resists. However, when a deadly new criminal, Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman), enters the picture, Oliver realizes the best thing for the city might be a new team of superheroes. Meanwhile, the flashbacks take us to Russia where Oliver faces off against the Bratva.

Furthermore, it was announced that the show's 100th episode will mark the return of Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, as well as Season 2 big bad Deathstroke, albeit it is not yet known if Manu Benett will return to portray the role of Slade Wilson.

"Arrow" is set to return October 5th, on The CW.
