"Tekken 7" producer and game director Katsuhiro Harada said that the new game due to release early next year will not support cross platform play. Security concern is one of the reason why Bandai Namco take the decision.

Although cross platform play has allowed players using different console to play together, but Harada said "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" not provide cross platform play as reported by Game Rant. He said in his tweet as translated by NeoGAF security concern and gamers' perception about PC gamers are the reason to disallow cross platform play

"It's not a matter of the technology for getting the PS4/XB1/PC players to match up against each other being the issue," Harada said in his tweet. "But rather first-party company policies and potential security risks alongside the community perceived reputation of PC gamers being cheaters that is hindering the decision to allow cross platform play."

Harada does not mean PC gamers are cheaters, as reported by PCGamer.com, but that is based on the perception, presumably among a portion of console owners.

The main concern to disallow cross platform play for "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" is to shut off the potential mods or hacks, which usually come from PC gamer that can affect other console. Therefore, Tekken 7 players will have to enjoy playing multi game only with players from their own platform.

Cross platform play has been enjoyed by various console owners for games such as "Rocket League," "Final Fantasy XIV," "Gears of War 4" or even "Tekken 7" close competitor - "Street Fighter V." However, security concern about mods or hacks may make the game makers to reconsider the option.

Meanwhile fans of Wu Long, may not be able to see the character in "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" as reported by Attack of a Fanboy.  Bandai Namco is thinking to not include him in the new series because of the low usage rate. There are currently 32 characters in the game, but Bandai Namco has not made official announcement about the character names.
