Yet another Hollywood power couple is separating. Actors Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber have announced that they are splitting up after 11 years together.

Releasing a joint statement they said that a separation was "the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple."

"It is with great love, respect and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship," they said.

The couple has asked for press to be mindful of their children's right to privacy. The couple have two children, Alexander ("Sasha"), 9, and Samuel, 7. The couple was last seen together at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of their movie The Bleeder, on Sept. 10.

The latest separation comes after the high profile break ups of Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp - Amber Heard this year.

The couple has been together since 2005 but never married.  Watts, 47, and Schreiber, 48,  had met at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual costume ball and had taken to each other immediately. Their relationship has been under scrutiny often, primarily as a result of their decision to not marry.

Watts had said in 2012 that marriage was not a top priority for them.

"We're very much together," said Watts.  "We just don't have that certificate, and that's okay with both of us. Maybe one day, we'll just wake up and go 'Hey, let's do this.' And maybe not."

A source has indicated that the relationship had been on the rocks for quite some time now

The two actors have appeared together over the years in several movies such as The Painted Veil in 2006 and Movie 43 in 2013. Their latest movie Bleeder is a boxing drama featuring them on screen as husband and wife Chuck and Linda Wepner.

Schreiber will also be appearing in a Broadway production,  "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," showing next month, where he plays a promiscuous Frenchman.
