"Metal Gear Solid" creator Hideo Kojima took the opportunity to comment regarding Konami's latest arcade zombie outing "Metal Gear Survive" during his panel at the recently concluded Tokyo Game Show 2016, and based on his statements, one can conclude that he is dead set at distancing himself from the project.

He was quizzed if he had any involvement with "Survive," to which, he responded, "It has nothing to do with me."

"Metal Gear Survive" is Konami's first "Metal Gear" entry after Kojima's unceremonious departure from the company. It utilizes "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's" open world design, with the inclusion of zombies, and an emphasis on survival and melee. It received widespread flak upon the trailer's debut, receiving 107,000 dislikes in contrast to its measly 20,000 likes on YouTube. Its most notable feedback, thus far, points to the game being an uninspired entry of an iconic franchise.

Konami later addressed "Survive's" setting as an indirect cause of the Mother Base being sucked into the said zombie game's timeline, much to the chagrin of the fans.

Kojima added, "The 'Metal Gear' games are about political fiction and espionage. Where do zombies fit in with that?"

"If I had worked on that game, it would have mechs in it," Kojima jokingly mused.

As of writing, Kojima is aiming his focus on developing "Death Stranding," which will feature "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus. It was also recently reported that they are eyeing a 2019 release, together with the introduction of a female lead opposite Reedus' character.
