Samsung has revealed that plans on developing a software update capable of combating the overheating issues of the Galaxy Note 7 are now in the pipeline. However, in exchange, it will limit the phone's battery life to 60%.

According to a report by International Business Times, the company allegedly released an ad in a South Korean journal, stating that a new update will be offered to users of the said phone who chose to ignore Samsung's notice for recall.

In recollection, the mobile giant recalled almost 2.5 million units worldwide, following reports of exploding units and fire incidents caused by the Note 7's battery cell.

However, Samsung voiced their fear that not everyone will take part in the recall, galvanizing the latter to release a software update which will help alleviate this issue.

Business analysts have commented that this recent recall will place a huge dent on the company's stock market performance. Furthermore, a few aviation regulatory units and airline companies have deemed the Note 7 as a flight hazard.

In addition, the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission is now considering another mass recall for the product.

Peter Yu, an analyst at BNP Paribas also mused his thoughts regarding Samsung's recent stand.

"Samsung has to contain the battery explosions but people are not returning the phones," said Peter Yu, an analyst at BNP Paribas. "It is taking a desperate measure."

He has also noted that this might be Samsung's last ditch effort to fight off the Note 7 crisis.
