As per news reports, Indy Neidell, "The Great War" host, discussed about the good and the bad side of the game. He analyzed the game trailer, taking it piece by piece, discussing how the game developers, EA DICE, were true to the unfortunate events that made up the First World War. He also discussed the narrative account of the video game through his analysis.

All the aspects of the game, such as victims being killed by bayonets, placement of the tanks, gas masks, pickaxes and all such things appeared to be real. However, he added that there were a few things that did not relate to the WW1 setting, but it might be the developer's deliberate attempt to make the game appear original.

For example, the shields used in "Battlefield 1" looked more modern as compared to the ones used in that time. Even the helmets that the soldiers are seen wearing should have been neck-straining and heavy, noted Kotaku. The trench fighters shown in "Battlefield 1" were dressed in full fighter equipment that should have been left in the trench before they went in for the fight. The Red Baron images revealed in the game trailer were also placed in wrong places.

The armies in the game were seen wearing gears of other soldiers and using unusual weapons. However, in World War 1, militaries were allowed to acquire the belongings of dead enemies. These flaws were added in the game to make it more creative and original and was deliberate. Indy Neidell also added that "Battlefield 1" was trying to include more realistic weapons, vehicles and method in their upcoming game which is set to release on Oct. 21.
