Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, has been gaining a lot of traction as the movie "Suicide Squad" is all set to release in the next few months. So much so, that her character has now earned a spin-off film, "Harley Quinn" currently untitled, that will also feature an exciting twist.

As per reports, Margot Robbie will reprise her role and will also have other DC female characters in the film. Harley Quinn will be joined by Birds of Prey and Batgirl in the spin-off movie. So far, any other details about the film have been kept under strict wraps and there are also rumors that the movie script is being written by an unknown female writer. These details are yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros.

Harley Quinn as a character emerged in the 90s as Joker's, played by Jared Leto in "Suicide Squad," girlfriend and assistant. After her character received recognition, she ventured into mainstream as an important DC character.

Margot Robbie is fortunate to have a central role in the upcoming film. The Australian actress even pointed out that she likes playing characters that are crucial to the movie and story plot and not dependent on a male counterpart.

DC Comics is yet to catch up with Marvel in doing superhero movies. Even though the two comics have the same universe, DC is often criticized in comparison to the latter. Many say that Marvel is capable of surpassing DC at the box office even when team DC has Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck on their team. However, DC is clearly better when it comes to representing its female leads which is not seen in Marvel all that much.
