Stephen Curry is probably the best shooter in the NBA. He is probably the best player on the Golden State Warriors. But is Steph Curry a better offensive player than LeBron James? He thinks he is.

Here's an excerpt from an interview Curry did with sports talk radio show host Dan Patrick:

Dan Patrick: Who's a better offensive player you or LeBron?

Stephen Curry: That's the first time I've ever been asked that question. Umm... me. Gotta be right?

DP: Well I don't know. I would assume that you would think that you're a pure shooter. Umm...he can score, you can too. You know what the correct answer is probably LeBron is a better scorer but I think you're the better shooter. How's that?

SC: I don't know cuz he demands a lot of attention on the floor but I like to say I can distribute, get my teammates involved and be a playmaker as well.

DP: What about putting up points? What if I said you go out and score as many as you want in a game, and LeBron goes out. Who scores more?

SC: I'd like to say my style would help me in that situation. As a matter of fact if I get a double team I can hopefully shoot from farther out (last few words tail off).

This portion of the interview caused quite a buzz among basketball fans and analysts. Curry tweeted out Tuesday (most likely responding to the reaction):

That's funny. Anything is news these days lol

Here are some of James' and Curry's offensive stats for the 2013-2014 season:

James - 27.1 ppg, 6.4 assists, .567 FG%, .379 3P%, 10 field goals made per game, 17.6 field goals attempted per game, .750 FT%, 5.7 free throws made per game, 7.6 free throws attempted per game

Curry - 24.1 ppg, 8.5 assists, .471 FG %, .424 3P%, 8.4 field goals made per game, 17.7 field goals attempted per game, .885 FT%, 3.9 free throws made per game, 4.5 free throws attempted per game

Going off statistics and James dominance the last four seasons, many will probably jump to the LeBron side of this debate. However, going with Curry in this discussion isn't totally outrageous. The Warriors' point guard is a better shooter, better ballhandler and better at the free throw line than James.

So, who do you think is the better offensive player? Let me know in the comments section.
