According to recent reports, CBS just recently renewed the show "Criminal Minds" for its twelfth season. The show will make a comeback on small screens during 2016-2017 TV season. The previous season, season 11, was a consistent topper amongst the best 10 shows in U.S. drama series with over 12 million viewers. Many fans are happy that show will be renewed for the next season.

As per previous reports, "Criminal Minds" season 11 will finish off a cliffhanger. Even though the show was not renewed for the next season, but the finale episode ended with a lot of suspense, paving way for the continuation of the series. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the show's next season and the show runners were also expecting its renewal as it has been consistently maintaining high rating.

The report also indicated that CBS and ABC networks are in the middle of chalking out a new licensing deal. Another reason that caused the show's renewal was exit of Shemar Moore that puts "Criminal Minds" in serious jeopardy.

However, regardless of the issues, the fans are happy to learn that the "Criminal Minds" will return for the next season. The fans are even more excited to see if the new agent will take over from the last one.

Now that Shemar Moore is no longer with "Criminal Minds," the BAU team has one less good agent and the Erica Messer believes that it is not such a great idea to introduce another character to replace him. However, that doesn't mean there will be no additional new character on the show.

According to a recent report, Messer may introduce a new BAU agent in Season 12 of the show. "It [introducing a new BAU member] feels like something that would be natural to do in a premiere, just as we did for almost everybody else who has ever come in," Messer said about the new BAU agent.
