Resident evil is reportedly going back its horror roots as Capcom decides to re-incorporate survival horror storyline into the franchise's 10th installment, 'Resident Evil 7'.

After a slump in sales and lukewarm reception by fans and critics alike, the game developer confirmed what many gamers have been wanting for years- to feel the good old thrill of its immersive survival gaming environment.

Just recently, executive producer Masachita Kawata confirmed that the upcoming title of the Resident Evil series will re-acquire its original horror attributes.

"Kawata confirmed that "Resident Evil 7" will certainly go back to being a survival horror game instead of being a third person shooter dramatic horror video game the way "Resident Evil 6" and "Resident Evil 5" came out," Master Herald reported

For a long time, people in gaming land have been complaining of Capcom's deviation from the original genre that made Resident Evil a major hit since the franchise started way back in 1996.

In a recent interview with Resident Evil producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, he was asked for comment about mounting sentiments among fans that the current genre of the games is disappointingly different from its survival horror roots.

"Since there's been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I'm thinking about it and also preparing for it," Kobayashi responded as per Yibada report.

As per Vine Report, reviving some of the games old flavor which made it popular in the first place would re-ignite the magic that made the first three installments of the franchise extremely successful. To do that, it would probably make a lot of sense to bring back enemies like William Birkins and Nemesis.

Birkins was a virologist working for the notorious Umbrella Corporation who was responsible for the so-called G-Virus Project. Nemesis, on the other hand, was one of the notable villains in the game's history who first appeared in Resident Evil 3. The villain later appeared in a number of spin-off titles and cameo roles.

These two enemies pumped a lot of thrill to the game despite being killed in the first three games. However, bringing them back would probably create a media frenzy among fans who seem to have grown tired of the game over the years.
