'Batman Solo' Release Date and Rumors: Wait And Watch Out For Many Iconic DC Villains In Ben Affleck's Solo Batman

Even as Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," seems to be rather flat and not rising up to the $1 billion mark at the box office, Warner Bros is retreating again into another Batman solo.

The important focus was Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader, which had drawn the crowds to "Batman v Superman." He will now be the star, writer, and director of another standalone.

While rumours stated that a solo Batman, co-written by Geoff Johns, would include the Dark Knight vs. Jared Leto's Joker, the movie took another direction.

In fact, there are a handful of established DC Comics Villains in the movie.

"Affleck and Geoff Johns, who has been working with him on the film, want to make the definitive Batman film," the report states. "They want to tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they're going to bring in all the big guns. They're going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place."

However, is that really the right approach? "Batman v Superman" had an established universe with backstories not known to audiences in some capacities. It was also chockful of a number of characters.

What distinguishes the "Batman Vs Superman" and the solo Batman is Ben Affleck, who will be a top filmmaker. He has a number of Academy Awards for "Argo" and "Good Will Hunting." His camerawork too has achieved a lot of accolades. On the other hand, Snyder is felt to be more of a "divisive filmmaker."

It is possible that Affleck is able to manage a great "Batman" reboot and maintain its continuity. Otherwise, it might be another muddle. However, only time will tell.

The "Batman" standalone feature is awaited for release "within the next five years."
