San Francisco 49ers head coach, Jim Harbaugh could be headed for the Oakland Raiders. According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora, sources reported that the Raiders are "hopeful of landing Jim Harbaugh to be [their] next head coach."

These sources added that the Raiders are willing to pay and give up their draft pick compensation to get Harbaugh. Although Harbaugh has not commented on these rumors, many sources noted that Harbaugh's family has previously expressed their preference to stay in the Bay area. A trade with the Raiders, however, would not be ideal for the 49ers.

Another possible contender could be the Miami Dolphins. Even though the Dolphins are having a decent season with a record of 7-6, owner Steve Ross has always been a huge fan of Harbaugh. Ross attempted to hire Harbaugh in the past. If that does not work out, rumors are that the New York Jets could also be in the mix for Harbaugh.

The possibility of Harbaugh returning to his Alma Mater, Michigan, is highly unlikely. Sources stated that Harbaugh is not interested in leaving the NFL.

"No one really knows what Harbaugh will do, or where he will be coaching next year. The only thing that seems guaranteed is that the 49ers and Harbaugh will part ways," Kevin Nogle with The Phinsider wrote.

Trading with a head coach is a completely different procedure than trading players. First off, Harbaugh has to give the "OK" for any trade. Negotiations and trade terms, which would typically occur after the coach says it is fine, would have to be agreed upon before the 49ers can release Harbaugh from his contract. Harbaugh would then negotiate a contract with his new team.

Harbaugh joined the 49ers in 2011 after coaching for Stanford.
