Ex-NFL Player, Darren Sharper Indicted on Rape Charges

Darren Sharper, former NFL player, has been indicted on rape charges alongside two other accomplices in New Orleans, several news outlets reported.

New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that the grand jury has indicted Sharper, 39, on two counts of aggravated rape related to an incident that occurred in his apartment in September 2013 and one count of simple rape stemming from an August 2013 incident. He is accused of sexually assaulting multiple women in these charges. If convicted Sharper could be sentenced to life in prison. His bond was set at $2.5 million.

Sharper's two accomplices, Erik Nunez and Brandon Licciardi were also charged. Nunez was charged with two counts of aggravated rape linked to the incidents that occurred in Sharper's apartment on September 2013 and one count of obstruction of justice. His bond was also set at $2.5 million. Licciardi was charged with one count of aggravated rape that occurred in February 2013. He was also charged with one count of battery and three counts of human trafficking. Licciardi's bond was set at $2.9 million. Nunez and Licciardi also face life sentences without parole if found guilty.

Sharper, who has been jailed since February in California, is waiting to hear back on separate charges in regards to drugging and raping women. He is also reportedly linked to drugging three women and raping two of them in Arizona. On top of those cases, Sharper is being investigated for similar charges in Las Vegas.

Overall, Sharper has allegedly raped at least nine women in five different states.
