Many expect that the next installment of "God of War" will be huge. There are several rumors surrounding the game but hiring 50 developers for GOW 4 implies that a lot is going to happen in the fourth part of GOW series.

According to previous reports, Sony Studios Santa Monica plans to release the game in 2017 or 2018, which means that "God of War 4" will not be seen anytime soon. The last GOW game, God of War 3 Resmastered, to appear on PS4 was back in July 14, 2015. Cory Barlog, God of War series' head writer, announced in PlayStation Blog that right now they are focused towards God of War 3 Remastered and will only begin working on GOW 4 once they are done with GOW 3 Remastered. Now that that version has been released, it could only mean that GOW 4 is in development.

There have also been recent reports indicating that Sony's Santa Monica Studios is mass hiring and have added 50 developers to their team, perhaps a sign that GOW 4 will be huge!

If buzz is to be believed, it appears like Kratos will not be a God of War 4 protagonist, unlike other three parts of the game series. Instead, what is expected is another mythological creature who would join the game, paving way for a prequel or a spin-off. The reports also indicate that more gods from Norse mythology will be added to the game like Thor, Odin, Loki etc.

So far, Sony is yet to confirm the official release date of God of War 4 but it is speculated that the game will release sometime in 2017 or 2018.
