Shawn Johnson marries Andrew East
Shawn Johnson, Gold medal-winning Olympic gymnast marries NFL player Andrew East in Tennessee on Saturday.
"I've found my guy," Johnson, 24, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "And he's my best friend, so making it official is exciting."
They make a good pair. The two-time 'Dancing with the Stars' competitor married the retired Olympic gold medallist Andrew East.
Johnson and East, met three years ago through East's brother, a fellow athlete. The couple lives in Nashville.
The bride wore a strapless, lace embroidered ivory wedding gown with a mermaid skirt and carried a bouquet of white flowers, reported the E! News. The bride wore a custom gown from Nashville-based stylist Olia Zavozina, who previously told E! News Shawn's dress would be "timeless, unique, and different, but at the same time be something that she can look back at those pictures 20 years from today, and say, 'Wow, I made the right choice!'"
The outdoor ceremony, held at a private farm in Franklin, was exactly as she hoped: "intimate and relaxed." And the decor was mainly ivory and green. Many ivory flowers and candles adorned the tables.
Fête Nashville's Sara Fried told E! News last spring that she helped Shawn to plan the whole thing, and as she told, it was going to be one big celebration. "Shawn and Andrew are both very close with their families," she noted, adding that even as the guest number grew, it would be "important that both the ceremony and reception remain very intimate. Lots of candles, flowers and touches of gold will create a romantic setting."
Shawn's bachelorette party was held on April 2. Shawn and friends spent their weekend on the "Spirit of Chicago" cruise, where the group danced a lot and took loads of photos. Shawn posted several of those pictures to Instagram, including one of her bachelorette party group on the boat's deck with the caption, "We're weird. We embrace it. #bachelorette party."
The day before the wedding, Johnson and her girlfriends enjoyed a day at the spa. We wish the couple a happy life.
