So the box office is going dizzy with Disney. This weekend, it is Jon Favreau's "The Jungle Book" that is smashing the theaters. Early predictions say that the movie will settle $70 million domestic in its opening weekend.

Last week, it was Melissa McCarthy's comedy "The Boss" that dethroned "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" from the top spot. It was her fifth straight film that pulled at least $20 million in its opening weekend. She became a star, but is being clean knocked out by the other mega movie, "The Jungle Book." Variety says that "The Jungle Book" will post anywhere between $65 million and $75 million this weekend, in sync with other live-action remakes such as "Cinderella" and "Maleficent," which were at just under $70 million in their first week, and then went on to shoot past $200 million at the domestic box office.

With other Disney smashers such as "Zootopia", which is currently Disney's second-highest grossing animated feature behind "Frozen," it is possible that "The Jungle Book" too might surpass expectations.

An initial run of $70 million would make "The Jungle Book" occupy the Big Five list.

With great plans of a sequel being negotiated with Favreau, Disney has other four more live-action fairy tale pictures to be shown on the screens in 2019, apart from others that are being developed. Disney's commitment will depend on the success or failure of "The Jungle Book."
