The newest installment of DC Comics, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has broken some serious records by debuting to a gigantic $170.1 Million on the Easter weekend, even though the movie has been scorned by the critics.

Batman v. Superman received great reception at the box office, despite what the critics feel. This is, in fact, one of the March launch ever and the sixth largest opening weekend, ever.

The studio, Warner Bros., didn't scrunch when they roped in Ben Affleck to assume the role of Batman and bringing back Zack Snyder of "Man of Steel" fame into the fold as well. Superman star, Henry Cavill, was the cherry on the movie cake. Overall, the studio spent a whopping $250 million in production expenses and a couple of millions more to promote the movie. Lucky for them, the bet seems like it has been paid off.

While the movie is raking in millions, the critics seem to feel differently as the reviews of the movie were not supportive of the box-office success. A.O Scott from New York Times said seeing this film is "...about as diverting as having a porcelain sink broken over your head" - but from the looks of it, audience didn't seem to care. "It's the fans that speak the loudest," said Jeff Bock, a box office analyst for Exhibitor Relations. "It proves how strong these characters are."

The audience composition consisted of largely male that made up 66% of the crowd. The audience was also within the age group of 18-34 years constituting 63% of the ticket buyers.
