The next season of the great detective show, Sherlock will come alive on your TV screens next year, along with his assistant Dr. John Watson and this time, with more thrill and drama, in his armor.

The fourth season of the crime drama series is soon to begin filming as had been confirmed by creator Steven Moffat in an interview. The executive producer had said that the fourth season will be more devastating and they are going to reduce the cast. He had also indicated a darker theme and some never-seen-before twists. He had categorically said that the team is more excited than ever before about Sherlock.

As per reports, Moffat along with Mark Gatiss, had already planned the fourth and fifth seasons while shooting the third installment. It all happened during an impromptu discussion that started on the top of their production bus.

The duo was talking about new dimensions that would add more sparks to the show and during the chat they got the much-needed inspiration. The plot of the coming two seasons were planned then and there. Moffat says that the ideas that they came up with during the discussion were the best they have had till date.

Notably, Sherlock is a very popular TV series and till now three seasons of the show have aired on television and were aired in the years 2010, 2012 and 2014 consecutively. A special episode was telecasted on January 1, 2016 in UK and US, on the same day, for the first time.

The special episode of 2016 titled "The Abominable Bride" was a departure from all the previous episodes as it was set in the Victorian period, with a striking resemblance to the setup depicted stories of Arthur Conan Doyle.

Well, it seems the follow-up of 2017 is only going to get better with the deft detective taking up another thrilling assignment.
