Golden State Warriors Rumors: Warriors Beats Clippers

Wednesday night was truly historic as the Golden State Warriors convincingly showed the NBA world its worth as the team methodically crushed its erstwhile rival, the LA Clippers, in a 114-98 victory.

Years ago, the Warriors-Clippers rivalry was pretty much a staple part in the Western Conference race. The rivalry, it seems, lost its steam with Warriors coming out of it with a new sense of mission to take on the Conference's much tougher teams.

Currently, there aren't many games for the Warriors to lose. In the Wednesday game, Stephen Curry led the Warriors to the path of a historic season with 33 points to his credit followed by Klay Thompson's 32 points with seven 3-pointers to widen the team's lead over LA as reported by Daily Mail.

"We weren't playing our brand in the first half. Until we pushed the pace on the defensive end, it always carries over on the offensive end and we're able to get on a break. I think we're the most exciting team in the NBA on a fastbreak, so that's a point of emphasis for us to end the season," said Thompson as quoted in a report by UPI.

By removing the Clippers from its path, only the San Antonio Spurs remain the only real threat that stands between the Warriors and the playoffs.

As stated in a report by SB Nation, the remainder of the Warriors' games look exceedingly positive for the team. Teams like Boston, Utah, Portland, and Memphis appear beatable. It would be surprising if Warriors fail to take on the Spurs in a decisive West Conference win.

Meanwhile, Steve Kerr recently admits that the team is gunning to surpass Chicago Bulls' 72 wins in the 1995-96 season. To do that, Warriors must reach the 73-win mark to create a whole new record in NBA history.

"We're 12 games away; we need to win 10 to set the record. That's pretty enticing," said Kerr as quoted by ESPN.
