A First for India, Asha Bhat Crowned Miss Supranational 2014

Miss Supranational 2014, Asha Bhat, made her country extremely proud as she managed to be the first Indian to receive the title since the event's inception.

"I am ecstatic. It's an unbelievable feeling and I couldn't feel more proud. I am happy to have won this title for my country. I am extremely thankful to the Miss India Organization for giving me this wonderful opportunity to prove myself. Now, I am just waiting to come back to my country and meet my family and friends who supported me throughout my journey," the beauty queen said according to the Business Standard.

Stunning the crowd with her beautiful Gavin Miguel gown, Bhat received the crown from outgoing Miss Supranational 2013, Mutya Datul, from the Philippines. She won $25,000 (Dh91,825).

Bhat also bagged the Miss Talent title earlier in the competition. She gave a sizzling Bollywood fusion performance to songs like 'Kajrare', 'Yaar Na Mila' and 'Dhol Baaje' with choreography from Khush Numa Daruvalla.

Before winning the Miss Supranational title, Bhat competed for various sub-titles like Best National Costume, Miss Best Body, Miss Fashion Show, among others.

Thailand's Parapadsorn Disdramrong was 1st runner-up while Gabon's Maggaly Nguema won 2nd runner-up. Completing the top five are Allyn Rose of USA in the 3rd runner-up spot and Poland's Katarzyna Krzeszowska who won 4th runner-up.

The prestigious event was held in Warsaw Poland where Bhat competed with ladies from 70 other countries.
