Now that the Batman vs Superman's release date is drawing near, sources cannot help but speculate what the DC movie trailer really mean and its implication on Robin's role in the movie.

In the movie trailer, one is made to see a salt-and-pepper haired version of Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) who now becomes a vigilante and who is more cynical and disillusioned with the goings-on of the world.

As reported there is that looming darkness and guilt of Batman which he projected towards the son of Krypton, Superman, (Henry Caviil) a feeling that is caused by Robin's death. And the two are reported to have 'the greatest gladiator match in the history of the world' that fans are waiting for.

And yes, in an interview, Ben Affleck confirmed Robin's death in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

He's bitterly disappointed in the past that he's lost this guy who fought by his side. That character's death must have been devastating to him, and he's suffered. We get the sense that he's suffered a lot of devastating losses before this movie even starts," he said.

The movie was inspired by Frank Miller's 1986 graphic novel miniseries, The Dark Night Returns which features a middle-aged Batman who came back after a long hiatus brought by the death of his sidekick, Robin. The plot is also similar to Dr. Pepper-released digital comics that still talks about this dark phase of Bruce Wayne.

But question now would be, which Robin would be featured in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice? Would it be the original role played by Dick Grayson or Jason Todd?

One source said that it would possibly be Jason Todd's Robin who is murdered by The Joker as portrayed by the costume of the deceased superhero hanged in the batcave which has some vandalism on it. In this case, it may also mean that an exploration of The Red Hood (Jason Todd's return-from-the grave character) later on in another Batman movie.

A future Batman movie that will give more focus on The Red Hood's character is not a far-fetched idea as what Ben Affleck said in an interview.

"There's definitely willingness and a will and a desire to make a Batman movie on the part of Warner Brothers. It's in development, and right now I'm really focused on finishing Live By Night. That's where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I'm finished with this movie, I'll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be," he said.

Meanwhile, an audio clip of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) became trending this week as she can be heard calling Batman and Superman as 'little boys.'

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder with writer Chris Terrio. It will hit theaters on March 25.
