Celine Dion lost another member in her family two days after her husband, Rene Angelil passed away due to cancer.

According to US Weekly, Daniel Dion, the singer's older brother, Daniel Dion, passed away on January 16, after years of battling various kinds of cancer as their publicist, Francine Chaloult earlier said.

The songstress has not commented on her recent tragedy but her sister, Claudette spoke describing how the singer could possibly feel.

"It's very painful. It's a matter of days or hours. It looks a lot like René, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain. Our family is very experienced," she said in a previous interview.

In a press release, via representative Kim Jakwerth, Dion family laments the passing of Daniel remembering him as a 'gentle and reserved man of many talents.' He is said to have his last breath at the palliative care center in Terrebonne, Quebec, outside Montreal surrounded with friends and family, NBC said.

It can be remembered that Celine Dion's childhood is spent with a family singing group with her late brother, Daniel in it. He is the eighth of the 14 siblings in their family.

Meanwhile, social networking sites, Twitter and Celine Dion's Facebook fan page, are filled with condolences from avid fans and other celebrities lamenting on the singer's recent misfortunes, Inquisitr reported.

"In case you missed it, @MariahCarey has expressed her deepest condolences to @CelineDion."

"Another tragedy for @celinedion this week as she loses her brother to cancer," posts CNN.

A tribute for Daniel Dion will be held on Saturday, January 23, at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny. His body will be buried at St-Simon-et-Jude, in Charlemagne, Québec. Rene Angelil's funeral, on the other hand, is set to take place at Friday at Montreal's Notre Dame Basilica.
