Donald Trump is not welcomed in the United Kingdom.

Shortly after the Republican presidential hopeful proposed a plan to place a temporary ban on all Muslims from entering the United States, a petition in the UK asking for a ban on Trump was started.

The petition, which was created on the government's website, has already received more than 200,000 signatures, which means that parliament can consider the motion for a debate if a committee sends it. Parliament's Petitions Committee will decide on that matter on January 5, CNN reported based on the House of Commons office.

The government also responds to all official petitions once they have reached more than 10,000 signatures.

The petition, which was written by Suzanne Kelly, reads: "The signatories believe Donald J Trump should be banned from UK entry. The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK. If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the 'unacceptable behaviour' criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful."

Kelly, who writes for Aberdeen Voice, has previously criticized Trump.

The UK Prime Minister David Cameron also condemned Trump's statement.

Cameron said, via his spokeswoman, "The prime minister has been very clear that, as we look at how we tackle extremism and this poisonous ideology, what politicians need to do is look at ways they can bring communities together and make clear that these terrorists are not representative of Islam and indeed what they are doing is a perversion of Islam."

The petition will stay live until June of next year.
