Work on "Fifty Shades Darker," the highly anticipated sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey," appears to have started.

E.L. James, the author behind the book series that the movies are adapted from, shared a picture of herself with Niall Leonard and James Foley. Leonard, James' husband, is penning the script and Foley is directing the movie.

The post hinted that Leonard and Foley might be collaborating on the final movie, "Fifty Shades Freed" as well.

The trio of creative minds appears to be working well together, which is good for Universal Studios. Previous rumors claimed that Sam Taylor-Johnson, the director for "Fifty Shades of Grey," departed from the project because James was difficult to work with.

*SPOILERS ALERT*

"Fifty Shades Darker" follows up on the love story between Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan and Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson. The two met in "Fifty Shades of Grey" and started a sexual relationship involving BDSM. However, at the end of the first movie, Steele decided that the dominant-submissive relationship was too much for her to handle.

In the sequel, the two are expected to find their way back to one another. However, their relationship will be tested when new characters, Jack Hyde, Elena Lincoln/Mrs. Robinson and Leila Williams, get in the way. Hyde, who is Steele's boss, has a vendetta against Grey and plans on using Steele to get to Grey. Lincoln, who is the woman who introduced Grey to BDSM and Williams, who is one of Grey's previous submissives, will also complicate things between Grey and Steele.

None of these characters have been cast yet. Producer Dana Brunetti revealed that they have not hired a casting director yet. Filming is supposed to start early next year.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is set to hit theaters on February 10, 2017.
