Sam Smith has dropped a huge hint that he might be working on the James Bond "Spectre" theme song. The four-time Grammy award-winning artist posted a picture of his hand on Twitter on Monday, Sept 7. On one of his fingers, Smith is wearing a ring with the symbol of a spectre's Octopus logo engraved on it.

Even though there was no caption with the picture, fans have already started speculating that the picture was Smith's confirmation of his involvement with the next James Bond movie.

Back in July, Smith dispelled rumors that he was working on a song for the franchise.

"People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's going on," he said in an interview with Capital FM. "I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by now."

At the time, Smith said he thought his friend, singer Ellie Goudling would be getting the gig. Other artists who were linked to singing the theme song included Ed Sheeran, Adele, Lorde, Noel Gallagher and Lana Del Ray.

The bar has been set very high for the theme song for "Spectre" after Adele's "Skyfall" in 2012. Adele won a Grammy and an Oscar for that song.

There is still no official confirmation that Smith is indeed singing the theme song.

Smith gained international recognition for his third single "Stay with Me," which reached number one in the United Kingdom and number two in the United States. His first two singles were "Lay Me Down" and "Money on My Mind."

During the 2015 Grammy Awards he won in four of the six categories that he was nominated for (Best New Artist, Record of the Year for "Stay With Me," Song of the Year for "Stay With Me" and "Best Pop Vocal Album for "In the Lonely Hour").

Earlier this year, Smith underwent suspension microlaryngoscopy surgery to treat a hemorrhage on his vocal cords. He was recommended to rest of his voice for up to
