An Iowa man said that he raped and killed an elderly woman because he was bored.

KWQC reports that 19-year-old Helmon Betwell has been arrested and charged with a number of offenses for his attack on 66-year-old Nancy Ann Krapfl in Dubuque, Iowa. Betwell has been charged with first-degree murder and sexual assault and two counts of third-degree burglary and his bond has been set at $1 million.

Police responded a call before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning from a man that said he saw a man on top of a woman beating her and when the attacker saw the witness he pulled up his pants and ran away from the scene. Police quickly arrived at the scene and took the victim to the hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Police were able to identify Betwell by evaluating security camera footage from around the scene of the crime, which showed a man breaking into two differents cars and looking for things to steal. It seems that he couldn't find anything he liked and then attacked the woman who had recently exited a convenience store.

They appeared to get in a fight and then Betwell struck her and dragged her to a vacant building.

The police were able to identify Betwell by his Pacific Islander heritage. The police searched the Facebook profiles of families with that heritage that were known to the police and came across Betwell's profile, which bore a striking resemblance to the attacker seen in security footage.

The police then went to Betwell's home where they recognized his clothing from the videos and that Betwell had cuts on his hands. Betwell said that he had fallen, but the police were able to use their evidence to get a search warrant and entered his house, finding a pair of shoes with blood on them. The shoes also matched those worn by the attacked in the video.
