Liam Payne from One Direction has to add extra effort in his recent tweets and convince his followers that homophobic accusations thrown against him are never true.

Liam's comment in introducing "Girl Almighty" in a concert in a recent concert has created a furor in a lot of One Direction fans who interpreted it as something that does not acknowledge same sex couples, E! Online said.

"This is my favorite song off the last album [Four], and it is about trying to find that No. 1 woman of your life, which none of you can relate to, 'cause most of you are girls. Except for the boys in here-you know what I'm talking about," the 1D member told his fans.

According to Independent UK, his remark in the Ohio concert made a lot of fans furious who accused him of being homophobic. These fans are said to have messaged him in the social networking site.

As a defense, Payne posted a tweet explaining his side.

"lol think some people take things to literal these days not gunna comment on it anymore you guys know what I meant it was meant in general," he shared the Tweet among 20.8 M followers.

In the next few minutes, Payne added how 'ridiculous' and 'annoying' for people to judge him that way when, as he explained, all he did was to say something about the song that he loves.

"I'm sorry to those I offended really I am but there's no need for some of the things I'm being called. I'm just here to make people smile I kinda consider it my job role."

Previously, Liam also has to slam down homophobic rumors when a photoshopped person of him making out with another guy circulated online, Mail Online said.

"I'm 100% not homophobic. But I'm also 100% not gay so when somebody says I am I'm gunna say I'm not which does not make me a homophobe," he said that time.
