Charlize Theron has been linked to "Fifty Shades Darker" for months and now, according to several reports, the Oscar-wining actress might be officially signing on to the franchise.

Theron is rumored to be playing Elena Lincoln/Mrs. Robinson in the sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey," the movie adaptation of E.L. James' 2011 bestseller. Based from the book series, Lincoln is expected to cause tension between billionaire businessman, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and recent college graduate, Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).

In the books, Lincoln is the woman who introduced BDSM to Grey. Before Grey became a dominant, he was Lincoln's submissive. Despite no longer having a sexual relationship, Grey and Lincoln's close friendship makes Johnson jealous.

In the first movie, Grey tries to convince Steele to become his submissive. At the very end (Spoilers Alert), Steele decides that the world of BDSM was too much for her to handle and leaves Grey. In the second movie, Grey and Steele are expected to reunite although other characters, aside from Lincoln, will also get in between them.

Henry Cavill is rumored to be playing Jack Hyde, Steele's boss. In the books, Hyde is instantly attracted to Steel, which causes Grey to get very jealous. Cara Delevingne, who starred in "Paper Towns" and "Suicide Squad," is rumored to be playing Leila Williams, one of Grey's previous submissives.

"Fifty Shades Darker," which does not have a director yet, will be a darker movie than the first one.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters of Valentine's Day in 2017. Production is expected to star in the new year.
