The US recently challenged Japan for a robot fight, according to unilad.co.uk

"Suidobashi, we have a giant robot, you have a giant robot. You know what needs to happen," said co-founder of MegaBots,Inc. Matt Oehrlein, along with his partner Gui Cavalcanti, both draped in an American flag in a YouTube video challenging Suidobashi Heavy Industries' Kuratas, according to nbc.

The American company is confident in its Mark 2 model, which is a huge, 6-ton metal beast.

"We just finished tightening the last bolts on the Mark 2-America's first fully functional giant piloted robot," Oehrlein says in the video that was sent to the Japenese robotics company. "And because we're American, we added really big guns," co-founder Cavalcanti added with a flourish and a theatrical pause.

The big robot has two people to manage it and can shoot three pounds of paint balls from its cannon at 100 miles per hour.

The Japanese immediately accepted it, picking up the gauntlet. Suidobashi put up its own YouTube video. "I won't let another country win this - giant robots are Japanese culture," said Suidobashi CEO Kogoro Kurata.

Kurata added that the fight had to be "hand-to-hand". "Just building something and sticking guns on it - it's super American," he added. "We really need ... melee combat. If we're gonna win this, I want to punch them to scrap and knock them down to do it."

Unilad said that Suidobashi "took the piss out of the American effort, which focused heavily on sticking guns on a robot," according to unilad.

'Megabots', who called out Japan's 'Suidobashi Heavy Industry' offered to name their battlefield and meet in a year.

The Internet is going wild over this duel. "And so, I remain cautiously excited. As long as this doesn't end up being vaporware, I'll be the first one streaming it, popcorn in hand, big stupid grin on my face," said a commentator in Gizmodo.
